Kalyani Government Engineering College (KGEC) organized and participated in a series of academic, professional, cultural and social initiatives during 15–19 September 2026, reflecting the institution’s commitment to holistic student development and community engagement.

1. National Engineers’ Day 2026 – 15 September 2026

KGEC collaborated with the Institute of Science, Education and Culture (ISEC) to celebrate National Engineers’ Day 2026 through a webinar held on 15 September 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM via Google Meet. The theme of the webinar was “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalization.”

The programme featured an inaugural speech by Prof. Anil Kumar Ghosh, President, ISEC, and a welcome address by Prof. Sukanta Naskar, Chairman, ISEC Seminar Committee. Prof. Angsuman Sarkar, Coordinator, IQAC and Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KGEC, delivered an address on behalf of the college. Prof. Santanu Das, Secretary, ISEC conducted and coordinated the whole program. 

The technical sessions included Dr. Somnath Das, Associate Professor & TIC, Mechanical Engineering Department, Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science & Technology, who spoke on “Engineering Excellence and Entrepreneurship for an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” and Mr. Nilkanta Lahiri, former PIC, Mathabhanga Government Polytechnic and Faculty Member, Coochbehar Government Polytechnic, who addressed “Engineering for the Service of Humanity.” The programme concluded with an interactive Question & Answer session and a vote of thanks.

2. Vishwakarma Puja – 18 September 2026

On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, KGEC organized a celebration on 18 September 2026 from 10:00 AM onwards at the Workshop Building.

The occasion brought together the students, faculty members, and staff of the college in a spirit of devotion and fellowship. As Lord Vishwakarma is traditionally regarded as the deity of creation, craftsmanship and technical knowledge, the celebration holds special significance for an engineering institution. The programme highlighted the values of creativity, craftsmanship, technical excellence and collective participation.

3. WordPress Campus Connect – 19 September 2026

KGEC hosted WordPress Campus Connect on 19 September 2026, from 9:45 AM to 4:10 PM at the AAB Seminar Hall.

The programme brought together speakers and participants interested in WordPress, open-source technologies, web development and the wider digital ecosystem. Participants had the opportunity to learn from experienced speakers, exchange ideas, ask questions, and explore possibilities within the global WordPress community.

The event was free for participants, with complimentary refreshments, and participation was limited to 115 attendees. The programme provided valuable exposure to contemporary web technologies, open-source practices and community-driven innovation.

4. Swachhata Hi Seva – 19 September 2026

A “Swachhata Hi Seva” programme was organized on 19 September 2026 at 12:15 PM by Dr. Partha Sarathi Banerjee, in association with NSS, KGEC.

The initiative focused on promoting awareness of cleanliness, hygiene, environmental responsibility and civic participation. It emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and healthy campus and society.

The programmes conducted during 15–19 September 2026 demonstrate the diverse academic, technological, cultural, and social activities undertaken at KGEC. From celebrating National Engineers’ Day and Vishwakarma Puja to promoting open-source technology through WordPress Campus Connect and strengthening social responsibility through Swachhata Hi Seva, the initiatives provided students and members of the KGEC community with meaningful opportunities for learning, participation and personal development.
