The Robotics Orientation Program was held on 23rd December 2024 by the KGEC Robotics Society by the second-year interns. This event introduced freshers’ to its mission, leadership, domains, and achievements.
This event began with a brief introduction about the club's assisting faculty. The faculty leadership included Dr. Sourabh Kumar Das (Principal), Dr. Satyendra Nath Mandal (Chairman), Dr. Sandip Nandi (Secretary), and Dr. Supriyo Banerjee (Treasurer).
They are the guiding light of our club. Their immense help with our projects and studies keeps us motivated to do and be better. They are always there to guide us during our activities both economically and physically ensuring the quality and quantity of our projects. Principal sir and treasurer sir constant support monetarily keep the club developing towards the path of upliftment.
Student leaders included Joint Secretaries, Aritra Biswas and Sayak Jana, and Additional Joint Secretaries, Ayush Kumar Sharma, Ajarul Mia, Souradeep Bera, and Sk Iftikar Uddin, all from the 4th Year, ECE.
The society operates in six domains, with Electronics and IoT led by Anisha Patra (3rd Year, ECE) and Somaraho Chaudhury (3rd Year, EE); Mechatronics and Robotics led by Agnidipta Basu (3rd Year, EE); AI, ML, and CV led by Saikat panda(3rd Year, CSE) and Debamrita Paul (3rd Year, CSE); Web Development and Cloud Computing led by Sayandip Paul (3rd Year, IT) and Akash Biswas (3rd Year, CSE); and Content Writing led by Saikat Panda (3rd Year, CSE).
Key projects included motion-sensor lights by Tanmay Debnath, Deep Rudra, and Arup Barai (2nd Year, ECE); a Bluetooth-controlled car by Anirban Mukherjee (2nd Year, ECE); and vehicle speed detection and air canvas projects by Anirban Roy and Deep Rudra (2nd Year, ECE). The Mechatronics project showcased innovative designs led by Tanmay Debnath, Susanta Singh, and Arup Barai (2nd Year, ECE). Their contributions included a Bluetooth-controlled car by Anirban Mukherjee and a hand-gesture-controlled car by Anirban Mukherjee and Deep Rudra. The AI/ML project includes a smart attendance system by Priyanka Gorai (3rd year, EE) and a weather monitoring system by Dipayan Pradhan (3rd year, EE). This team ensured precise engineering, reflecting KGEC Robotics Society's commitment to cutting-edge robotics solutions.
Other innovations included gesture-controlled cars and security systems.
Achievements like participation in E-Yantra, SIH, and IRoC, and the Dune Rover project—led by Mr. Satyaki Datta and supported by alumnus Mr. Anirban Roy—were highlighted.
We all know, participation and practise make a man perfect. The greatest achievement of the KGEC Robotics’ society is that The KGEC Robotics Society actively participated in the Dune Rover project, an ambitious initiative aimed at competing in prestigious robotic rover challenges like IRoC-URSC, URC, and IRC. Led by Mr. Satyaki Datta, the project involved designing and simulating the rover using CAD tools like SolidWorks. This iterative modelling process refined the rover’s structure for optimal performance. The manufacturing phase overcame initial resource challenges with support from the institution and alumnus Mr. Anirban Roy, who facilitated the procurement of essential tools like a welding machine and angle grinder.
This all was possible because of our esteemed Faculty who are always there to guide us through every means and way both financially and academically. The project highlights the society’s innovative approach and commitment to achieving excellence in design and functionality.
The event emphasized the benefits of joining, including skill development, networking, and hands-on experience, inspiring freshers to contribute to the society's innovative efforts. It ended with an interesting Quiz and an interactive session making the event a great success.
